mental notes...

Mental note #1: never leave a paint brush and a paint tray (w/ a hint of paint in it) unattended with a roaming 2 year old about

Mental note#2: never really think the plumber will come when he said he would

Mental note #3: next time we move- maybe give myself some more time to pack and organize.

Mental note #4: hiring movers is well worth the money.

Mental note #5: don't stay up late, because that is the night that Tommy will get up several times

Updates

(I added two more posts below)

We have the boy's room completely done. Timmy did a good job staying out of the room while we were painting it. The next day, we showed him the finished product and told him he could play in there. Unfortunately- we forgot to take the paint brush and old paint tray out of the room. While Tim & I were in our room discussing colors- we realized we don't hear Timmy. We walk into their new room only to see Timmy painting (w/ the little paint left over in the tray). He saw us and said w/ a big smile "TIMMY PAINT!!" So Tim had to redo one wall- but our bad for not putting tha stuff away. And at least he limited it to one wall!

Tim is doing most of the painting as not much gets done while I'm there w/ the boys. He is working on our bedroom now. He has gotten quite creative- and really good w/ the masking tape.

Our friend Mike is helping us out w/ the cracked pipes we noticed at the final walk thru. We got $300 for the repair but our worry/fear was that there were cracks in the pipes all over the house. Last night (Tue night) that fear came to life. But this is the joy of buying a foreclosed home. And we got such an amazing deal on the house- that even if we spend a few thousand in plumbing- we still came out ahead. But luckily we had switched our moving date to Jan 31 (instead of this weekend) so we have more time to get things done.

Timmy is sick AGAIN! And Tommy also has a running nose (again). But otherwise all is well. Timmy is talking better and better every week (thanks to Ms. Joy!). Last night I took him to McDonald's to play on their big playland structure and for the first time he figured out how to get up the big steps/platforms to get to the top. Once he figured it out-there was no stopping him. He LOVED it!

Tommy is doing well on the Soy formula (the fourth and hopefully final formula we tried). To Tim's credit- he suggested putting him on the Soy formula weeks ago and I said no. Tim was right!! He is coo'ing and "talking" a lot more and smiles so much. He loves looking at faces and raises his eyebows when you talk to him- like he is really listening and enjoying what you are saying. He is a BIG boy... outgrowing the 3-6 months clothing (very tall).

Keep warm!

some more cute misc pics (love the bumbo seat!)

Moving Right Along...

Well, Tim & I spent a good part of the day today painting the new house. My friend Elizabeth and her husband offered to take the boys today so we could get some stuff done. We moved at top speed since the moment we woke up- knowing that the day would go fast.
We decided to really prioritize what we are doing in the new house. #1 is the boys room... need to change the magenta/pink walls to something boy appropriate :) We got the priming done. Tomorrow we will attempt to bring the boys to the new house- along w/ some toys- and hope to get more done.
I've had some wonderful friends from the mom's group/ playgroup offer to come over and play w/ the boys during the day so I can pack up more of the house. What a relief and what a blessing.
Need to sleep... more painting tomorrow!

Misc January pics

It's been awhile...

Update: Timmy is fully recovered and back to his crazy/wacky self. Nearly every waking moment of his life is spent playing with, talking about or watching trains. He will be playing with trains and suddenly yell... "Timmy's got TRAINS!" The bonus here is that being stuck waiting for a train to go by at a RR crossing has become fun again. Not since I was a kid and I would wait to be able to waive to the guy on the caboose has seeing trains go by been so exciting. He knows where the RR crossing are and looks for them every time we cross. TRAINS!!

Tommy is still not feeling well. Has horrible cough which wakes him (and me) up a few times a night. And he seems to have major gas problems. So- Tim is actually at Wal-mart right now buying a different kind of formula. I really, really hope this works. I love my little boy but spending all day with a child that either needs to be held or he cries is wearing. Especially with an active 2 year old. He just seems so miserable. The past week or so I've been taking him out to the couch in the middle of the night and holding him against me w/ his head on my shoulder and we fall asleep that way. At least I get some sleep that way but I miss my bed. We really hope the formual works!

we close on the house this Friday (1/16). We will paint the new place (just few rooms), shampoo the carpets, clean it, pack our house up, move everything and fix up the old house to get ready for renting by 2/1. As in two weeks. Trying to pack w/ a screaming infant is tricky. Which is why I've got a 1/2 box done so far.

On an happy note- Tim & I are both feeling fine and are getting over our colds- almost completely.

Lucky Dog and Tim went mountain biking last weekend and Lucky ran off... for over a 1/2 hour. He must have been really, really running as he was sore for the following three days. He wouldn't even walk to the kitchen to lick bowls or get scraps!

I'll post some pics from the past couple of weeks. Not sure when the next time I'll be on as there is too much to do.

Love to all!

An update

Not much has been posted because not too much has happened. Timmy is starting to feel better but Tommy & I both ended up sick too. So we are all hanging low trying to get a full recovery.

We did buy a new house... it all happened so quick it is crazy. We put in a super low bid not sure the bank that owns the foreclosed home would take it but they did. Which is a good thing- we need more space to help support Timmy's train addiction :)

Here are some pics of the house http://www.kodakgallery.com/ShareLanding.action?c=7z4gsrl2.c68hs93m&x=0&y=-ha96em&localeid=en_US

I'll post more when I'm feeling better.

Happy New Year!
